14th August: The 1st day

Early in the morning at the TransWales 2011

The GORE BIKE WEAR® TransWales 2011 powered Mercedes-Benz Vito Sport is just about to wake up to get ready for the 1st proper day of riding.

Yesterday’s prologue was a fun day out with more than 150 riders (good mix of prologue only riders and ‘keen’ TransWales riders) tackling the course around Builth Wells followed by the special stage back at the event venue.

Today we are heading to Knighton, Shropshire for the 1st ‘proper’ day of the GORE BIKE WEAR® TransWales 2011 powered Mercedes-Benz Vito Sport. We will get into the 1st special stage (hill climb) early in the stage which means that we will have our 1st set of category leaders later on today.

Looking around the field at yesterday’s welcome briefing we should see some close battles today.

More from the event including results and some images later on today as well as on our Facebook page and on Twitter.
